KIBALE FOREST
Chimps, chimps, and more chimps! Kibale has plenty, and given its proximity to the awesome Ndali Kasende crater area in the Western region of Uganda, this place is truly stunning. These guys are often overshadowed by their larger cousins, however, they still provide an unforgettable experience. Living in a community of over 100 chimps although often splitting into smaller social groups, constantly jumping and calling loudly to each other while drumming on trees certainly alights the senses! 1% of the chimpanzee population can be found in this part of the country.
Kibale also has Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary which is a jungle swamp - a project cared for by the local community to improve their standards of living by attracting tourists. While here, hike the incredible crate lakes of the region, going up the steep volcanic slopes and finishing of with a swim in one of their lakes - bliss!
