SEMULIKI

Semuliki National Park is located in the western region of Uganda. It is unique in that much of it is dense tropical lowland forest with the Rwenzori Mountains forming the backdrop to this incredible park. The terrain is quite flat, and the Rwenzori range forms a backdrop to the east. The Semuliki River defines the border with the DRC, and several tributaries run through the park, providing watering places and good spots to observe the animals.

Sempaya Hot Springs are the most famous attraction in the park. They are commonly known as the male and female springs. One of the springs resembles a geyser by forming a 0.5m high fountain.

This biologically diverse region also provides shelter to a further 120 mammals, including several primate species such as baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. There are around 350 species of birds hosted in this forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics... a true birders paradise.
